St George Dragons and Illawarra Steelers came together ahead of the 1999 NRL season to form a proud powerhouse with over a century of combined history and represent two of Rugby League’s richest regions. All Dragons are custodians of the Red V and while the Red V is in our possession, it’s our responsibility to add to the story and hand down the history and legacy to the next generation of Players, employees, fans and community. The ideal candidate will:

Your key responsibilities

Revenue & Commercial Leadership

  • Lead and execute the Club’s commercial strategy across all revenue streams including sponsorship, philanthropic, hospitality, membership, events, digital and new business ventures.
  • Secure and grow long-term, high-value partnerships aligned with the Club’s brand and values.
  • Identify and deliver new revenue opportunities across emerging platforms, technology, content, and fan experiences.
  • Oversee non-traditional revenue streams including content monetisation, travel programs, and third-party commercial arrangements.

Marketing, Brand & Communications

  • Lead the Club’s marketing strategy to grow fan base, membership, ticket sales and brand affinity.

Digital, Content & Data

  • Oversee digital platforms (web, app, social) to ensure best-in-class fan experiences.
  • Drive content strategy including video, editorial, social and emerging formats.
  • Build a data-driven culture, leveraging analytics to inform decision-making across commercial and fan engagement functions.
  • Own CRM strategy, segmentation and personalisation to maximise fan lifetime value.

Fan Engagement, Membership & Experience

  • Lead the Club’s fan engagement strategy across match day, digital and community touchpoints.
  • Own the full membership lifecycle - acquisition, retention and engagement.
  • Act as the voice of the fan at executive level to inform strategic decision-making.

Events & Hospitality

  • Oversee planning and delivery of match day and major events to ensure outstanding fan and partner experiences.
  • Lead corporate hospitality strategy and execution, ensuring premium experiences and strong commercial returns.

Partnerships, Coterie & Philanthropy

  • Lead the generation and conversion of leads to renew and grow all partnership revenue streams.
  • Oversee sponsor servicing and delivery of contractual rights to drive retention and growth.
  • Lead development of coterie groups, business networks and supporter programs.
  • Strengthen the Club’s Foundation and philanthropic strategy to grow donor engagement and fundraising outcomes.

Innovation & Strategic Growth

  • Identify and implement innovative commercial and fan engagement opportunities.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to maintain a leading market position.
  • Foster collaboration across football, operations and corporate functions to deliver integrated outcomes.

Leadership & Culture

  • Lead and develop a high-performing, integrated commercial and consumer team.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration and excellence.
  • Ensure alignment of team objectives with broader Club strategy.

Key Requirements

Minimum Experience

10+ years’ experience in senior commercial, marketing or customer leadership roles, ideally within sport, entertainment, media or events

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven success driving multi-channel revenue growth and managing complex commercial portfolios
  • Strong expertise across marketing, digital, content and fan engagement
  • Experience delivering premium events and hospitality programs
  • Strong financial, analytical and contract management capability
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills

Technical Competencies

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (intermediate level)
  • Strong CRM management skills (e.g. Salesforce, EngageRM)

You must be legally entitled to work in Australia, have an ability to attend to work events outside of ordinary office hours and must be available for domestic and international travel at times.
