Description

From 1 July 2025, the QAS will become a Statutory Body - guided by our values and driven to Inspire Extraordinary Sporting Success. We're building a future-focused organisation, and this is your chance to help shape it.

Are you ready to bring your financial expertise to a role where your work directly supports the success of Queensland's elite athletes? Join the QAS as we embark on an exciting period of growth and transformation. We are seeking a strategic and forward-thinking financial leader who thrives in a dynamic, high-performance environment.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing financial resources effectively and ensuring compliance with legislative and best practice standards - while championing sustainability and delivering value in the public interest.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-level strategic and operational financial advice to the QAS Board, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), key governance committees, senior managers, and stakeholders.
  • Driving risk-aware financial and procurement practices that support performance outcomes and organisational priorities.
  • Establishing strong and trusted relationships across the Board, SLT, executive leaders, and key external partners.
  • Overseeing major budgetary decisions, including budget submission development and the financing of significant QAS projects.
  • Leading the timely and accurate preparation of QAS's annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, Queensland Treasury reporting requirements, and other relevant legislation.
  • Contributing to the integrity and continuous improvement of financial systems and records in line with auditing, departmental, and statutory requirements.

This is a rare opportunity to make a meaningful impact in Queensland's high performance sport system - delivering financial leadership that enables athlete success, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability.

The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our athletes.

We are committed to an environment where athletes from any background are heard, treated fairly and free from abuse.
