Special Olympics Australia (SOA) is part of a global movement improving inclusion through sports for people with intellectual disability and/or autism. All year round, we offer Olympic-type sports training and competitions for children and adults of all ages and ability levels, from weekly local grassroots activities, to State, National and World Games.

Position Purpose
Special Olympics Australia is seeking an organised, efficient, detail-oriented Head Coach with demonstrated experience in leading and managing sportings teams.
The Head Coach (HC) will be the primary contact between the Head of Delegation (HoD) / Assistant Head of Delegation (AHoD) and their sports team. The Head Coach will be responsible for organising training programs for athletes to ensure they are prepared to compete at the Games. They will also assist management with the registration of the team, and communication with the athletes and their families.
During the Games the HC will manage athletes and provide support for daily competition. They will also ensure that all team officials within their sport understand their roles and responsibilities and are fully prepared for the Games. The HC is responsible for cultivating a culture of unity within their sport team.
International travel with the delegation to the World Games, with the Travel to Games period anticipated to be from 14–22 October 2027 (dates to be confirmed).
