The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is on a bold journey towards Brisbane 2032 and beyond. Following the extraordinary success of Queensland athletes at the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are now focused on delivering even more medal-winning moments through to Los Angeles 2028 and our home Games in 2032.
We are seeking talented, motivated individuals whose values and behaviours align with our team and culture. If you are passionate about high performance, committed to continuous improvement, and want to be part of something transformational, we invite you to join us on this exciting journey.
Para Pathways and Coach Advisor plays a pivotal role in strengthening Para sport pathways and supporting the development of athletes and coaches across Queensland. Working in partnership with athletes, coaches, sporting organisations, schools, allied health professionals and community stakeholders, the position drives inclusive opportunities for people with disability to engage in sport, develop their capabilities and progress along the pathway from first participation through to high performance sport. This role focuses on connecting people, programs and opportunities to support athlete and coach development.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to the development of a regional and South East Queensland Para coaches network, providing guidance, mentoring support and facilitating access to learning and development opportunities.
- Support creation and delivery of inclusive, high-quality daily training environments that meet the needs of Para athletes and enable opportunities for pathway entry and progression.
- Support the delivery of individual athlete performance planning and contribute to classification, testing and performance support processes to optimise athlete outcomes.
- Deliver and support creation of Para athlete education sessions to support and empower developing Para athletes to navigate the demands of entering into high-performance sport.
- Collaborate on identification, recruitment and transition initiatives of Para athletes, increasing the number and quality of athletes entering and progressing through the Para pathway.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders (eg NSOs, SSOs, schools, clubs, rehabilitation centres, Paralympics Australia, Australian Institute of Sport) to expand talent pathways and opportunities.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team supporting the delivery of Para sport capability and capacity building activities for the QAS Para Unit referral network (e.g. education, allied health and community sport programs).
- Undertake domestic travel as required to support athlete preparation and performance at training camps and competitions.
The QAS is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all athletes, children and young people that are involved in QAS-supported sport programs.
We are committed to an environment where athletes from any background are heard, treated fairly and free from abuse.
