The Opportunity

As a Pool Superintendent, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of one of Council's aquatic facilities. You will lead your team, set the standard for safety and customer experience, and ensure the facility operates reliably, efficiently and to a high standard every day.

You will bring strong industry knowledge across pool operations, including maintenance, water quality and safety regulations, combined with the ability to manage staff and facility performance. You will play a key role in maintaining high levels of public safety, while delivering a positive and welcoming experience for all patrons.

These roles require dedicated, values driven leaders who recognises individual strengths, invests in their team and drives continuous improvement in service delivery and productivity. We currently have two vacancies within our service at Continental Pool and Western Suburbs Pool, each offering a unique aquatic operations environment. Continental Pool is a year-round ocean pool facility, while Western Suburbs Pool is a seasonal chlorinated swimming pool. Both facilities play an important role in the community, attracting high visitation and supporting a diverse range of customer needs.

These are permanent full-time positions - you will be required to work a 7-day rotating roster between the hours of 5am - 10pm. Salary from $86,858 up to $95,925 per annum plus superannuation. In addition to the relevant applicable weekend, public holiday and shift penalty rates in accordance with Wollongong City Council's Enterprise Agreement. (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications).

Under Part 2, Section 6 of the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012, this position has been designated as requiring a paid NSW Working With Children Check.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND ACCREDITATIONS

  • Certificate III in Aquatics and Community Recreation with all the specific competencies in Aquatic Technical Operations or equivalent industry qualifications
  • Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
  • Current First Aid Statement of Attainment (HLTAID011 or equivalent)
  • Paid NSW Working with Children Check, or are you willing to obtain one prior to employment? If yes, please provide your clearance number or confirmation.
