About Us
Chelsea & District Basketball Association (CADBA) is one of Victoria's leading basketball associations. Founded in 1998, we support over 3,000 registered playing participants and a Gulls Family network of more than 10,000 past and present members, making us the preeminent sporting organisation in our region.
Our culture is built on three values: Family, Progression and Professionalism - and we're looking for a General Manager who lives and breathes all three.
About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead a maturing, ambitious organisation through its next stage of growth. As General Manager, you'll be the senior executive leader of CADBA, accountable to the Management Committee for our strategic, financial, operational and cultural performance.
You'll lead a high-performing team, represent CADBA as our principal ambassador across government, basketball, sponsorship and community networks, and drive an expanded venue management footprint as we complete our transition to a company limited by guarantee.
This whole-of-business role spans governance and strategy, commercial and financial management, people and culture, facilities and major projects, basketball programs and pathways, and stakeholder relations - with the independence to exercise sound executive judgement under a Deed of Delegation from the Management Committee.
What You'll Be Doing
- Partnering with the Management Committee to shape and deliver CADBA's Strategic Plan
- Building relationships with Kingston City Council, Basketball Victoria and other key stakeholders
- Owning budgeting, financial reporting and commercial growth, including sponsorship and venue commercialisation
- Recruiting, leading and developing a high-performing staff and volunteer team
- Overseeing facilities, major projects and game-day operations at our Bonbeach venue
- Championing the Gulls representative program and junior pathways
- Leading brand, marketing and communications across CADBA and the Gulls
- Ensuring strong governance, risk management and compliance across the Association
What We're Looking For
- Tertiary or proven executive management qualifications, with senior leadership experience in sporting or member-based organisations
- A strong track record in financial management, budgeting and commercial/sponsorship growth
- Proven experience building and leading high-performing teams through change
- Experience developing governance, policy and compliance frameworks
- Confidence engaging with government, council and major facility stakeholders
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for basketball and community sport (highly regarded, not essential)
Why Join CADBA?
- Shape the future of a well-established, growing sporting organisation
- Genuine autonomy and executive-level decision-making authority
- Be part of a close-knit, values-driven Gulls Family culture
