Description

The Chief Executive Officer is the leader of the state sporting body which has the vision of having basketball as the sport of choice for Tasmanians. The Chief Executive Officer will lead a staffing team and work closely with the Board, staff, associations, affiliates, partners, suppliers, government, media and venues.

Key responsibilities:

  • BTAS Board liaison and management.
  • Federal, State and Local Government liaison and management.
  • Basketball Australia liaison and management.
  • Ability to representing Basketball in Tasmania.
  • Manage and develop Business Alliances, sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Oversee the Financial Management of the organisation.
  • Drive strategic initiatives and engage stakeholders in process.
  • Source, manage, deliver and acquit Active Tasmania Grant funded programs and initiatives.
  • Serve on the NBL1 South Advisory panel and liaise with Tasmania’s NBL1 clubs.
  • Lead Facility Discussions with government
  • Complete governance, reporting and communication tasks across the breadth of the organisations activity.
  • Explore and develop new programs and opportunities aligned with the strategic plan

  • Basketball Volunteers - Regional Councils, Clubs and CAMs (Constituent Associate Members)
  • NBL1 Clubs
  • Federal, State and Local Government representatives
  • Commercial and strategic partners
  • Tasmanian Basketball Community, players, coaches, match officials, volunteers and staff.

Key Competencies and Experience

  • Deep knowledge of the sporting landscape in Tasmania.
  • Executive Management within Sports Administration and/or Not-for-Profit membership-based organisation.
  • Commercial acumen in the context of Basketball competitions.
  • Professional interpersonal and communication skills and ability to develop strong relationships with a broad and diverse stakeholder base.
  • Ability to lead, communicate, inspire and motivate staff and stakeholders.
  • Capacity to produce reports and provide executive commentary.
  • High competence in administrative requirements, including information management, resource allocation, policy development and reporting.
  • Strong brand positioning skills and ability to identify opportunities and raise profile.
  • Strong written and oral communication and well developed interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • A growth mindset with passion for innovation and exploring new opportunities.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Current or ability to obtain a Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable Persons Registration.

Essential

Tertiary related degree (or equivalent) in either Business, Commerce, Leadership, Management or Sports.
