The Games are Australia’s largest multi-sport festival, expected to attract 7,500+ participants across 50+ sports, celebrating lifelong participation, competition and community connection.

About the Role

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a complex, large-scale multi-sport event.

The successful candidate will lead project planning, event operations, commercial outcomes, workforce delivery and stakeholder engagement to ensure a professionally executed, financially sustainable and nationally recognised event.

Key Responsibilities

Event & Project Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, delivery and post-event evaluation of the Games
  • Manage multiple project workstreams to ensure milestones, timelines and deliverables are achieved
  • Deliver a seamless participant and stakeholder experience across competition and associated social programs
  • Ensure all event operations are delivered to agreed standards, timelines and budget

Planning & Governance

  • Develop and implement the overarching Event Delivery Plan and Operational Plan
  • Establish project governance frameworks, reporting structures and risk controls
  • Provide regular progress reporting to executive stakeholders and partners

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Manage the full event budget, including revenue and expenditure
  • Lead sponsorship, partnership and commercial revenue initiatives
  • Ensure strong financial governance and budget accountability

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead strategic relationships with government, host city partners, venues and sporting organisations
  • Work collaboratively with national and state sporting bodies to deliver the sports program

Workforce Leadership

  • Lead, develop and manage a diverse workforce of staff, contractors and volunteers
  • Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, training and performance frameworks

Marketing & Participant Experience

  • Oversee marketing and communications delivery in partnership with relevant teams
  • Drive participant engagement, brand positioning and customer experience outcomes

About You

You are a senior event or project executive with proven success delivering large-scale, complex sporting events or major projects.

Essential Experience

  • Proven leadership in delivering major sporting, community or large-scale events
  • Strong project and program delivery capability across multiple workstreams
  • Demonstrated commercial and financial management expertise
  • Experience operating in complex stakeholder environments
  • Strong leadership, governance and delivery focus

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in sport management, events, business or related discipline
  • Significant relevant industry experience
