The Opportunity
Volleyball Australia is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Finance Officer to provide leadership across the organisation’s financial management, governance compliance and operational systems.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this senior leadership role works closely with the VA Board, senior leadership team, the Australian Sports Commission, member organisations and key stakeholders to ensure strong financial stewardship, effective governance and sound operational management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage VA’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting and reporting
- Deliver timely, accurate and high-quality financial reports to the Board, CEO, ASC and other stakeholders
- Develop and manage organisational budgets aligned with VA’s strategic priorities
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, including ATO and ASIC obligations
- Lead, coach and develop a finance and administration team, including shared services support to state and territory member organisations
- Oversee administrative and operational management systems, including finance and information technology
- Manage the National Insurance Program on behalf of VA and its member organisations
- Provide financial and operational advice to VA staff to support effective portfolio and program management
- Represent VA professionally in relevant national forums, including sport finance and leadership networks
- Promote and role model VA’s values and contribute to a positive, inclusive and high-performing organisational culture
About You
You are a collaborative and capable finance leader with strong governance, operational and people leadership experience. You are comfortable working at both strategic and operational levels and bring a solutions-focused approach to complex financial and organisational matters.
Essential Requirements
- Extensive experience using accounting software (Xero preferred)
- Proven experience managing financial resources and organisational operations
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing multi-functional teams
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and financial governance
- Demonstrated ability to provide timely, accurate and concise advice and reports to support decision-making
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships
- A valid Working With Vulnerable People Card (or the ability to obtain one)
Desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in business management, accounting or finance
- Experience in the not-for-profit or charity sector
- Experience using Employment Hero
Employment Conditions
- This is a permanent, full-time position (38 hours per week, plus reasonable additional hours as required).
