The General Manager - AFLW is a senior executive leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, performance and administration of the Brisbane Lions's AFLW football program. The role leads the development and execution of a comprehensive football strategy to deliver sustained on-field success while ensuring excellence in governance, compliance, player welfare and high-performance culture.
This full-time role is based at Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield Central, a cutting-edge Elite Sports Performance Facility where excellence and innovation are part of our business, both on and off the field. Reporting to the CEO, the GM - AFLW is key to leading success on and off the field for our AFLW program.
Key responsibilities include;
- Develop and implement a comprehensive AFLW Strategic Plan aligned to the Club’s Purpose and Strategic Plan
- Work closely with the Senior Coach to support development of game plan, game strategy and on-field direction
- Represent the Club at AFL, AFLW and AFLPA meetings relating to women’s football
- Collaborate with the AFLW Senior Coach, football leaders and Club management to drive a high-performance culture across the Football Department, playing group and wider Club
- Champion the integration and advancement of women and women’s football across the Club
- Manage football department staff contracts in collaboration with the People & Culture team
- Ensure all AFLW football reporting, to the CEO, Board and AFL meets compliance and governance standards
- Oversee Total Player Payments forecasting and compliance, including player contract negotiations with the List Manager
- Oversee AFLW program budget including soft cap
Work closely with medical and high-performance staff to deliver best-practice program and care within budget
- Maintain expert knowledge of AFL, AFLW and AFLPA rules, regulations and the CBA

You are an experienced people leader with a strong strategic mindset, exceptional stakeholder management skills and a proven ability to deliver high-performance outcomes in elite sport. You bring a deep knowledge of AFL and experience in strategy, operations, governance and compliance and are passionate about advancing women’s football.
The successful applicant will be required to travel with the team to all home and away games, and as the nature of our industry work non traditional hours.
