Suncorp Super Netball began a new chapter in Australian Netball history in 2017, and with it the introduction of GIANTS Netball.

Owned and operated by Netball NSW, in a strategic alliance with GWS GIANTS AFL, GIANTS Netball was formed based on providing more opportunities for the 115,000 registered Members in NSW, including: to represent their State and club at Netball’s highest domestic level; and provide opportunities for fans and members to watch the world’s best netballers live in action.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this position is to grow the GIANTS Netball fan base through managing, planning and executing the delivery of GIANTS Netball events as well as developing and executing a community and fan engagement strategy.  Additionally, the role be required to assist the business in executing Netball NSW events where required.

The purpose of this position is to increase the number of GIANTS Netball members and grow ticket sales to game days through engaging with the netball community and growing our fan base. The role will be responsible for the development of membership retention and acquisition strategies, providing quality customer service and annual member program, while growing and maintaining the GIANTS Netball database.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community & Fan Engagement:

  • In conjunction with the Executive General Manager - GIANTS Netball and the GIANTS Netball Consumer Business Manager develop a community & fan engagement strategy with a focus on growing the number of members and fans of the team.
  • Lead and manage the development of fan engagement activities, in conjunction with the GIANTS Netball Consumer Business Manager, Community & Fan Engagement Coordinator, Commercial and Marketing team, and GIANTS Events Coordinator for all GIANTS Netball home games.
  • Lead and manage the GIANTS Netball activations plan, in conjunction with the GIANTS Netball Consumer Business Manager & Fan Engagement Coordinator at Netball NSW Associations across the state, including GIANTS Netball player appearances.

Events:

  • Responsibility for the delivery of high-quality events and the game day experience for Netball NSW and ensuring that planning, logistics, documentation and execution of all activities is undertaken at a best practice level.
  • In conjunction with line manager, adhere to budgets set that pertain to the position including all event budgets.
  • Assist with the delivery of all scheduled pre-season games, home games and finals of the Suncorp Super Netball League as per the Operational Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend meetings with Suncorp Super Netball Operations staff as requested, developing strong relationships to ensure positive outcomes for GIANTS Netball and Netball NSW.
  • Produce and implement detailed event plans for Netball NSW events as required.
  • Manage match day requirements for all visiting teams participating in the Suncorp Super Netball League.
  • Liaise with Commercial and Marketing departments to ensure all marketing, promotion, sponsor requirements are met for all GIANTS Netball events / activities.
  • Liaise with GIANTS team officials and work collaboratively with the Team Operations Manager to ensure key team operational objectives are met for home games.
  • Assist with the delivery of Netball Australia sanctioned events as required by Netball NSW.
  • Delivery of Netball NSW events such as State Dinner, or others as reasonably required. Review all event processes, procedures and existing plans.

Leadership:

  • Motivate, manage, mentor and guide all direct reports to develop and grow.
  • Working alongside the Executive General Manager- GIANTS Netball, lead the creation of a culture of continuous improvement, organization effectiveness and excellence through the delivery of new initiatives to enhance and promote team and Club culture.
  • Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including GIANTS Netball High-Performance Staff, GIANTS Head Coach & Players, and Netball NSW Shared Services at all levels to influence and drive growth outcomes

General:

  • Prepare other written reports as required.
  • Attend as requested, sub-committee, Board meetings and Council Meetings
  • Manage and provide leadership to staff reporting to the position.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key personnel throughout the State.
  • Abide by, promote and actively enforce Netball NSW policies.
  • Actively participate and be part of the Netball NSW Team, where applicable.
  • Any other duties as requested by the Chief Executive Officer or Executive General Manager - GIANTS Netball.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in events ideally in a sporting environment
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications e.g. events/sports management/business administration (desirable).
  • Experience in the sport/not-for-profit industry (desirable).
  • Current driver’s license and own vehicle.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of the sporting culture and not for profit organisations.
  • A high level of computer expertise covering word processing, presentation software, database skills and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent phone manner and written skills.
  • Strong analytical and business negotiation skills.
  • Clear, professional and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Competence with the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Demonstrated creative ability.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in administration management.      
  • High level interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.        
  • Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meets deadlines and manages time effectively.
