Hours: Fulltime - 2 Year Contract - covering the 2026 & 2027 Rugby Seasons.

Randwick Rugby is one of the most iconic clubs and brands in both Australian and World Rugby. The club has had a phenomenal period of success winning the 1st Grade Premiership in 2023, plus Premierships in both 1st & 2nd Colts and the Colts Club Championship in the Sydney Rugby Union Competition in 2025. 

The Director of Rugby at Randwick DRUFC is a fulltime/contract role and is responsible for the overall recruitment, development, management, athletic performance and pastoral care of players and coaches at the Club. The role will cover the preparation for and execution of the 2026 and 2027 rugby seasons.

Aside from elite coaching support, the role’s primary focus is to develop the plan for the club’s rugby program and ensure there is a co-ordinated approach throughout all levels of the club in executing it. The overall administration of our Colts program and key pathway activities, including women's rugby, is also an important responsibility of the position.

This role reports directly to the General Manager and will work in partnership with our fulltime First Grade Coach. The key role outcomes are as follows:

• Be the senior coaching resource across the club to support and motivate all teams, coaches and players as required.
• Recruitment, retention and development of quality players, coaches and related staff across our rugby program.
• Develop and grow the standards of our high performance program and athletic culture.
• Day to day management of our overall Colts and Junior Pathway programs.
• Ensure all training sessions are pre-planned & objectives/ outcomes well communicated to staff and players.
• Use all rugby technologies available to help review team/player performance and plan for upcoming matches.
• Oversee the club's medical & rehabilitation program, medical staff return to play protocols.
• Manage the rugby program specific spend within the agreed budget parameters.
• Manage all relevant rugby administrative procedures i.e. player contracting, registration, eligibility, points system, club transfers, insurance etc.
• Manage the weekly resourcing and logistics plan for match day and training.
• Provide pastoral care support to players in areas such as employment, accommodation and vocational training.
• The implementation and clear communication of club policies e.g., selection, medical etc. to all stakeholders.

The successful candidate should have the following demonstrated knowledge, skills and qualifications:

• Outstanding organisational, team building and technical coaching skills. 
• Ability to recruit quality players to the club of all ages - particularly into our Colts program.
• Minimum Level 3 Rugby Coaching Accreditation, while Level 4 is preferred.
• Demonstrated success in a similar role at a Shute Shield Club or equivalent standard.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the personality to drive club culture.
• Sound financial capability/experience in managing budgets.
• Competency in Windows programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Must be a polished public speaker.
• The ability to connect with key stakeholders outside of the rugby program, such as media, sponsors, commercial partners and relevant service providers.

Position Term:

This is a Fulltime role, on a 2 Year Fixed Term Contract to cover the 2026 & 2027 Rugby seasons. We will require the successful applicant to commence the role prior to the 2026 preseason, which will commence in November 2025.

Flexible working hours required during the rugby season to attend weekend matches, evening training sessions, events and meetings. An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
