The Royal Yacht Club of Victoria (RYCV), established over 170 years ago, is one of Victoria’s most respected and historic yacht clubs. With a proud heritage, a vibrant sailing program, modern facilities, and a welcoming culture, we are committed to being an inclusive, diverse, and friendly club that serves both our members and the wider community.
We are now seeking a highly capable and motivated General Manager to lead the operations of our Club and support the General Committee in delivering on our strategic goals.
About the Role
Reporting to the Commodore and General Committee, the General Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Club’s people, facilities, and services. This is a diverse and hands-on role, requiring strong leadership, business acumen, and the ability to engage positively with members, staff, volunteers, and the broader sailing community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing Club operations across sailing, marina and yard, hospitality, membership services, finance, communications, and events.
- Supporting the General Committee in implementing the Club’s strategic plan.
- Overseeing staff recruitment, performance, and professional development.
- Ensuring financial sustainability and reporting to the Committee and statutory bodies.
- Maintaining safe and efficient facilities, assets, and operations.
- Overseeing occupational health and safety (OH&S) compliance across all Club operations.
- Project management of capital improvements and upgrades to Club facilities.
- Building strong relationships with members, stakeholders, and the broader community.
About You
We are seeking a dynamic and professional leader with proven skills across operations, staff management, and stakeholder engagement. Experience in club, hospitality, sport, or marine operations will be highly regarded.
