About Us

Sydney University Football Club (SUFC), established in 1863, is the oldest rugby club in Australia and one of the most successful. With over 160 years of proud history, SUFC has produced more than 100 Wallabies, countless professional players, and has won more premierships than any other club in the Shute Shield competition.

We are seeking an outstanding Head of Coaching to lead our high-performance rugby program and shape the future of this iconic club.

Reporting to the Director of Rugby and Executive General Manager, the Head of Coaching will be responsible for leading SUFC’s professional coaching staff, delivering our game model and coaching strategy, and ensuring sustainable, winning performances across our premier teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the week-to-week performance of the 1st Grade team and support aligned game plans for 2nd Grade and 1st Colts
  • Oversee recruitment, retention, and development of players and coaches.
  • Drive the development and implementation of the SUFC Game Model and Coaching Strategy.
  • Lead the strength & conditioning and video analysis programs to deliver high performance outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with players, coaches, club leadership, rugby bodies, sponsors, and supporters.
  • Foster a professional, disciplined, and values-driven club culture.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in elite rugby coaching, ideally at premier club or professional level.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to unite and inspire players and coaches.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high performance programs and game strategies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Commitment to SUFC’s traditions, values, and culture of excellence.
