Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club (KLTC) stands as one of Australia’s most esteemed tennis clubs, renowned for its distinguished history and tradition. Now, KLTC is embarking on a period of transformation, aspiring to deliver internationally recognised coaching, competitive pathways, player development, and participation programs.
Role Overview:
KLTC is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Tennis to reshape every facet of its coaching and player pathway structure. This leader will be responsible for delivering exceptional coaching services and engaging participation programs to Kooyong Members of all ages and abilities. KLTC’s ambition is to become a national leader in player development - starting with a world-class Hot Shots Tennis program and extending to US college pathways and professional tennis.
Reporting and Collaboration:
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Tennis will collaborate closely with the KLTC Sports Team, the Kooyong Foundation Talent Management, the future KLTC Head Coach, current coaches, and the Health & Fitness Manager.

Design and lead a comprehensive coaching program that serves all members—from beginners to advanced players - ensuring engaging, progressive, and personalised coaching focused on performance, participation, and enjoyment.
Talent Development Pathway
- Build a clearly defined and effective structure that nurtures talent, guiding players from grassroots participation to elite levels.
Professional Pathways
- Develop a robust program supporting players with aspirations to compete at collegiate or professional levels, providing full-spectrum support including NCAA eligibility, balancing academics and athletics, specialised training, and recruitment processes.
Structured Competition Pathway
- Work in alignment with the Tennis and Sports department to ensure all players have access to a clear competition pathway, from Hot Shots Red Stage through to State League Pennant and the annual KLTC Club Championship.
Community & Club Culture
- Foster an inclusive and welcoming club environment, encouraging participation and engagement to build a strong sense of pride and belonging among members.
Commercial Viability
- Lead the Tennis Coaching and Pathways Department as a successful, self-sustaining business, meeting financial KPIs and returning value to the Club and its members.
Ideal Requirements & Experience:
- 8-10+ years’ experience in coaching, program leadership, or player development, including designing and managing coaching or competition pathways
- Proven record in developing junior, adult, and elite competition pathways
- Experience running a commercially successful coaching business or department
- Tennis Australia Performance Coach (Level 3) or ITF equivalent
- Professional tennis experience with ATP or WTA ranking
- Demonstrated experience preparing players for US college recruitment and knowledge of NCAA/pro entry requirements
- Current Tennis Australia Coach Membership
- Qualification in Business Management or a related field
