Westgate Basketball is one of Victoria’s fastest-growing basketball associations, with 4,000+ members and programs for all ages and abilities. From grassroots programs like Aussie Hoops to high-level competitions in VJBL and Big V, we are passionate about developing players, referees, and community engagement in Melbourne’s west.
The Role
We are seeking a dynamic General Manager to lead our operations, drive growth, and deliver on Westgate’s strategic priorities. Reporting to the Board, the GM will oversee competitions, programs, finances, sponsorship, and community engagement, ensuring the smooth running of our rapidly growing association.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of Westgate Basketball, including domestic competitions, VJBL, Big V, referee, and junior development programs
- Deliver on the association’s strategic plan and growth initiatives
- Manage budgets, financial reporting, and operational compliance
- Drive sponsorship, community engagement, and advocacy efforts
- Lead and develop a small team of staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and high-performing culture
- Prepare communications, newsletters, and grant applications to support Westgate initiatives
About You
You are an organised, proactive leader with a passion for community sport. You will bring:
- Proven leadership and people management experience
- Financial management skills, including budgeting and P&L ownership
- Strong administrative and project management capability
- Experience in sport or community programs (basketball knowledge highly regarded)
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in tools like PlayHQ, Mailchimp, and Microsoft Office
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
- A current Working With Children Check
