The Western Force is a professional rugby union team based in Western Australia competing in the elite Super Rugby Pacific and Super W competitions.
As an organisation, the Force has a proud history, having been formed in 2004 and making its Super Rugby debut in 2006 at its original home, Subiaco Oval. We are seeking a forward-thinking Head of Performance Psychologist to lead and innovate our mental performance and well-being programs. This role is integral to ensuring our athletes, coaches and support staff develop the psychological skills required to excel under pressure, bounce back from setbacks, sustain peak performance over time and find work/life balance.
As part of our high-performance team, you will play a critical role in athlete development, providing cutting-edge mental training techniques, emotional support, and holistic strategies to maximise individual and team success.
This role comprises provision of Psychology support to coaches, athletes and key support staff in the Western Force High Performance programs
The primary responsibilities of the role are:
- Lead the development of an overall performance psychology curriculum that adopts an integrated, flexible, individual and needs based approach to all aspects of the psychological, social and cultural development of coaches, athletes and key support staff. This will include coaches and athletes from both High-Performance squads and squads within the development pathway.
- Deliver interventions with coaches, athletes, and support staff to create a high-performance culture and the psychological capacity for success at the highest levels of competition.
- Implementing and driving a collaborative approach to planning, preparation and performance that optimises internal and external expertise and closes ‘gaps’ to performance.
