Background
Skate Australia, founded in 1962, is the National Sporting Organisation for Skate Sports in Australia. Skate Australia is recognised by the Australian Sports Commission, the Australian Olympic Committee and the International Federation, World Skate.
Working in partnership with affiliated State Skating Associations, Skate Australia brings together the diverse and active skating Disciplines of artistic, inline downhill, inline freestyle, inline hockey, inline speed, rink hockey, roller derby, roller freestyle and skateboarding (downhill, street luge, vert, park and street).
Skateboarding debuted at the Tokyo 2022 Olympic Games and in 2022 after Tokyo, Skate Australia assumed responsibility for the delivery of the Skateboarding High Performance Program. Over the past two Olympic cycles there has been a significant contribution from those within the skateboarding community, and the High Performance Sport System, to establish and evolve the High Performance program.
Skate Australia receives Federal Government support through the Australian Sports Commission / Australian Institute of Sport to establish a sustainable Skateboarding High Performance Program focused on World Skate and Olympic Games success. Skate Australia has partnerships and receives support from a number of State Institutes and Academies of Sport (SIS/SAS).
In 2024, Skate Australia conducted a High Performance System review, a proactive initiative designed to guide Skate Australia in advancing and evolving the High Performance Program, aiming to ensure continued grow and learning, looking ahead to Brisbane 2032.

The role of the Wellbeing & Engagement Manager
The Wellbeing & Engagement Manager is a leadership position that will provide strategic support to the General Manager High Performance in implementing and delivering the Skateboarding High Performance Strategy, and lead the implementation of the Wellbeing & Engagement framework. Key responsibilities will include;
- Support and actively collaborate with network SIS/SAS Wellbeing & Engagement Advisors
- Ensure tailored support and education is in place (guided by an overarching approach) for athletes transitioning in and out of their performance pathway
- Assist to ensure that broader wellbeing systems that are in place to support High Performance staff including coaches and support staff
- Support the implementation of agreed recommendations from 2024 High Performance System Review
- Proactively engage with coaches, performance team members and staff and act as part of a multi-disciplinary team and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Work closely with the Integrity Manager to implement and maintain practices and systems that maintain the highest levels of safety and ensure compliance with the National Integrity Framework
This is a 0.6FTE role with a preferred South East QLD location, however- Skate Australia are open to Sydney or Melbourne for the right candidate.
