Baseball Canberra (BC) is the governing body for baseball in the ACT, overseeing the administration and development of the sport across all levels. Our mission is to foster a vibrant, inclusive baseball community, promoting sportsmanship, enjoyment, and growth. We manage local competitions, development pathways, and represent the ACT in national forums under the auspices of Baseball Australia.
About the Role
The General Manager position is a pivotal role within the ACT Baseball Association and is responsible for the operational management of Baseball Canberra, including but not limited to:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board to advance baseball in the ACT.
Program Oversight: Manage development and performance pathways, ensuring alignment with national standards.
Competition Coordination: Oversee junior and senior competitions, including scheduling and compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement: Foster relationships with clubs, associations, sponsors, and government bodies.
Financial Management: Administer budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure financial sustainability.
Communication: Lead BC's communication strategy, including social media and public relations.
The role reports directly to the Baseball Canberra Board and requires availability during standard business hours, with flexibility for after-hours and weekend commitments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of BC's strategic and operational plans.
Manage day-to-day operations, including staff supervision and resource allocation.
Coordinate competitions and development programs across all age groups.
Engage with stakeholders to promote and grow the sport within the community.
Oversee financial processes, including budgeting and reporting.
Ensure compliance with governance policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of 5 years in a similar leadership role within sports administration or a related field.
Strong business acumen with experience in not-for-profit or sporting organisations.
Tertiary qualifications in sports administration, business, finance, or related disciplines are highly regarded.
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid driver's license and Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
