Softball Australia 

Softball Australia (SA) is a National Sporting Organisation (NSO) with six affiliated member States and two Territories across the country with four being directly under one management including, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Northern Territory (NT), South Australia (SA), and Victoria (Vic). There are over 23,000 members and over 100K+ players, coaches, umpires and volunteers in Australia ranging from grassroots through to the elite talent pathway.

SA has recently launched its new five-year strategic plan 2023-2028 with a vision that softball is for everybody and inspiring heroes on the world stage. Our purpose is to promote and develop a thriving and attractive national sport that builds friendships, community, and elite skills to successfully compete.

As part of our new strategy, we are now looking to appoint a ‘General Manager – Game Development’ to help us realise our strategic objectives.

About the role

This newly created position sits within our newly established Senior Management Team. The purpose of this role is to work closely with the executive to manage and lead multiple departments throughout our organisation, with a focus on participation growth at all levels from grassroots through to our elite teams.

Softball is on an ambitious journey to get a bat, ball, and glove in every hand at grassroots level across the country. If you are passionate about sports development, planning, programs and people then we would like to speak with you.

Core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Game development across participation, pathways, and high performance.
  • Working closely with a breadth of highly influential stakeholders.
  • General management responsibilities across people & culture, financial management, marketing.
  • Develop and deliver Softball Australia’s National Participation Plan (NPP).
  • Strategic partnerships that enhance our games brand nationally.
  • Development of our umpire, coach and volunteer academy’s.
  • Expanding participation and inclusion in Softball with a focus on recreational and participatory Softball, including clubs and schools.
  • Harnessing funding, investment and revenue generating opportunities for grass roots and school development programs through partnership grants and other commercial initiatives.
  • Leading and supporting best practice governance through all levels of Softball in Australia.

About you

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, skills, traits and experiences:

  • An innovative thinker willing to think outside the box.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities within time and budget.
  • An experienced sports administrator.
  • Formal qualifications in relevant field, and/ or experience in sports participation.
  • Stakeholder management with the ability to influence.
  • An understanding of the Australian sporting landscape.
