Melbourne Storm is an Australian professional rugby league club with teams in both the National Rugby League (NRL) and New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competitions. In addition, to the success with the NRL program, the club has experienced substantial growth and success in recent years with its Pathways programs.
We are currently inviting expressions of interest from an emerging coach with an ambition to establish a career in high-performance sport. It is a great opportunity to gain experience across our Junior Pathways Program for the 2026-2027 pre-season and season, whilst completing a Level 2 Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) accreditation. In line with the New South Wales Rugby League Womens and Girls Strategy, we strongly encourage women to apply for this role who aspire to a career within Rugby League.
This position has been approved by ASCA to complete Level 2 accreditation hours. Any costs incurred in obtaining this certification will be reimbursed by the club.
Strength & Conditioning Coach
This position is central to our desire to identify and develop elite coaches. In addition, to the delivery of coaching within our elite Junior Representative Program. We are looking for an individual who is committed to fostering a high-performance environment and developing themselves as an elite coach, under the guidance of established high-performance coaches, at one of Australia’s most successful sporting organisations.
We welcome applications from those actively involved in community rugby league or from other elite field sports and elite development environments, who are ready to contribute to the next generation of Melbourne Storm athletes.
Requirements
Contribute to the delivery of athlete development programs in alignment with Storm’s High-Performance standards. Work in close collaboration with coaching staff to optimise player physical performance, with a focus on developing strength, power, speed, and conditioning capacities. Core responsibilities include:
- Design and implementation of athletic development programming for the U17 Harold Matthews program (1 November 2026 to 10 May 2027)
- Assisting with session programming with the U17s Head Coach
- Attending all U17 training and match days
- Contributing to program planning with the Pathways Performance Manager
- Complete Level 2 ASCA course and related ASCA Base Curriculum
- After the U17 Harold Matthews season, assist more broadly across the Pathways Programs, which includes male and female programs, which would fulfill hours related to the Level 2 ASAC certification
Desired Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Exercise & Sport Science or equivalent field (or currently studying)
- Level 1 ASCA accreditation
