About us

Blacktown Workers Rugby League Club is an Australian Rugby League club based in Blacktown, New South Wales. The club supports junior rugby league development and fields senior teams in the NSWRL Ron Massey Cup and Sydney Shield competitions.

The Opportunity

Blacktown Workers Rugby League is seeking a motivated and reliable intern to join our team for the upcoming 2027 season. This internship will provide hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a high-performance rugby league environment, making it an ideal opportunity for students pursuing a career in sports business, management or coaching.

Brief overview about the role

Working closely with the head coach, team manager and staff, you will help prepare equipment and team areas for training sessions and match days. Your support will contribute to our sessions and ensure players and staff are equipped and prepared.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Prepare, distribute and collect training and match-day equipment, including water bottles, footballs, cones and other training equipment. 
  • Assist with setting up and packing down training fields, dressing rooms and team areas.
  • Prepare equipment and operational supplies before training sessions and match days.
  • Report to the team head coach and manager.

Schedule

  • Training: Tuesday and Thursday evenings
  • Captains Run: Saturday Morning (if applicable)
  • Games: Varied on Saturday and Sundays.
  • Preseason: Nov 2026 - Feb 2027
  • Season: Mar - Aug 2027

  • Strong Time management and organisational skills 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Highly motivated with a willingness to learn.
  • Physically able to handle equipment and work in an outdoor environment
  • Availability to meet the role’s training and match-day commitments.

Education/Qualifications

Essential 

  • No prior tertiary education is required, however the ideal candidate is someone studying or recently completed a relevant sporting degree.
  • Drivers license is essential
