The Position

Loreto Toorak is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Athletics to lead our Athletics, Cross Country and Triathlon programs from Preparatory to Year 12. Commencing in Term 1, 2027, this permanent position may be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis for the right candidate.  

Loreto Toorak has a proud tradition of excellence in Athletics, offering a dynamic and inclusive program that supports students at every stage of their sporting journey. From first-time participants discovering a love of running, jumping or throwing, through to students competing at State and National levels, our Athletics, Cross Country and Triathlon programs provide opportunities for every student to develop confidence, resilience and a lifelong appreciation of sport.  With strong student engagement and significant team participation, this position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across a broad and diverse student cohort.

Through expert coaching, individualised athlete development, strength and conditioning support, and strong representative pathways, students are encouraged to pursue personal excellence while experiencing the camaraderie and community that sport fosters. Our program celebrates both participation and high performance, creating an environment where students can thrive, challenge themselves, and achieve their full potential both on and off the field.

About You

The successful candidate will bring;

  • Demonstrated experience leading Athletics, Cross Country and/or Triathlon programs preferably within an educational or youth sporting environment
  • Excellent knowledge of contemporary coaching practices and athlete development pathways
  • Strong coaching expertise with the ability to support athletes across all levels of participation and performance
  • Outstanding leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to fostering positive, inclusive and child-safe sporting environments
  • Australian Athletics Level 2 Development Coach Accreditation (desired)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Exercise or Sport Science (desired)
  • Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR certification
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check
