About the role

Melbourne City Baths is seeking enthusiastic and safety-focused Casual Lifeguards to join our team. As a Lifeguard, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for all customers using our aquatic facilities.

You will be responsible for supervising pool users, promoting water safety, responding to incidents and emergencies, and supporting the day-to-day operation of one of Melbourne's most iconic aquatic facilities.

  • Supervise aquatic areas and proactively identify and minimise risks.
  • Respond to emergencies, rescues, first aid incidents and customer safety concerns.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and promote safe behaviours in and around the pool.
  • Support aquatic programs, events and daily facility operations.
  • Complete operational checks, incident reporting and administrative tasks.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive and safety-focused team culture.

About you

You are a confident swimmer with a strong commitment to safety and customer service. You enjoy engaging with people from diverse backgrounds and remain calm and professional in emergency situations.

What your experience might look like - Key Selection Criteria 

  • Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate and Provide First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain within four weeks of appointment).
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork and customer service excellence.
  • Ability to follow procedures while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Previous lifeguard experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Alignment with City of Melbourne values of Integrity, Courage, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
