Whether it’s giving your all at Suncorp Stadium, or going above and beyond in schools, we don’t just play for a club, we play for a community, and a proud one at that. One that every single one of us wears on our sleeves, every single day. We’re much more than a world-class sporting organisation and the biggest sports brand in Australia, we’re a team.

Pride, performance, people and joy are at the heart of everything we do and that’s why things are done differently here, it’s how we inspire and excite. Whatever field of work we’re in, we always leave it all out there.

The Brisbane Broncos are seeking an Academy Athletic Performance Coach to develop the physical qualities, professional habits and performance standards required to prepare the next generation of Broncos players for the NRL.

How you can play a part

  • Planning, implementing and coordinating physical performance programs across junior and senior Academy squads, development squads, games and camps
  • Managing the physical development of Academy players, including designing individual programs where required.
  • Monitoring players against defined physical and preparation standards to ensure they are progressing toward being NRL-ready
  • Delivering programs that develop speed, strength, endurance, running mechanics and professional training habits
  • Attending all development squad sessions and selected Academy games, while making reasonable efforts to support carnivals where workload and time permit
  • Building trusted relationships with players and parents and providing clear feedback on physical development, participation and training standards
  • Working closely with the Academy Physiotherapist, medical team and other performance staff to support physical preparation and return-to-performance programs
  • Coordinating specialist support, including dietetic consultations, and sharing relevant feedback with Academy staff
  • Reporting on Academy and development squad performance, program outcomes and player progress, including end-of-year reports for contracted players
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of junior and senior Academy camps
  • Identifying and introducing best practice and innovation to maintain the Club’s competitive edge
  • Partnering with Recruitment staff to identify and attract emerging talent into the Broncos Academy and development pathways.

To be considered

To be considered for this opportunity you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in sport science, exercise science or a related discipline.
  • ASCA Level 2 Strength and Conditioning accreditation or higher.
  • Knowledge of rugby league and/or a rugby league background, which is essential for the role.
  • Experience working within elite team sport performance programs, particularly in long-term athlete development.
  • Strong and well-rounded athletic performance knowledge across speed, strength and endurance.
  • A developed understanding of how to analyse, interpret and coach running mechanics.
  • Demonstrated experience building effective relationships with young athletes, families and people from diverse backgrounds.
  • The ability to motivate players and support them to achieve individual and team performance goals.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach and the ability to achieve results through hard work, dedication and a willingness to get on with the job.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and other relevant performance and reporting systems.
  • Candidates who are available to commence immediately will also be highly regarded.
