This is a rare opportunity for an experienced recreation management professional to take on the end-to-end set up, establishment and leadership of the new Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing located in Dandenong and schedule to open in the latter half of 2027. Responsibilities extend across fit-out, operations planning, commissioning and delivery, including community engagement and partnership building.
Overseeing all aspects of operational readiness - budget preparation, leadership and management; health and safety planning and development; emergency management planning; patron and member engagement and experience; technology and systems establishment and integration; and workforce planning, recruitment and training - the Venue Manager will be responsible for establishing the foundations for success. Key to this will be delivering on Greater Dandenong Council's vision for an inclusive, community-focused recreation and wellbeing centre.
The role is highly visible to all stakeholders including Greater Dandenong Council and the community it serves.
The incumbent will coordinate all aspects of establishing Oasis as a premier community aquatics and wellbeing hub, driving increased participation, quality patron experience, financial performance and community impact. Upon opening, the role will transition focus to leading ongoing business and operational performance and excellence, with priority around delivering a community centred services delivery model aligned to the Greater Dandenong Council Plan 2025-29, incorporating the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan. Contributing to the development of a socially connected, safe and healthy city is a cornerstone of this plan.
