For more than four decades, the Adelaide 36ers have been one of the most successful clubs in the National Basketball League (NBL), winning four championships.

Today, the Adelaide 36ers continue to set benchmarks both on and off the court. The club sold out every home game during the NBL25 regular season, boasts the largest social media following in the league, and continues to build momentum and push boundaries across the community

Beyond basketball, the Adelaide 36ers are deeply committed to family, community and creating positive social impact. Through the Shooting Hoops Foundation and a range of innovative community initiatives, the club engages thousands of young people, schools, families and community members every year, using basketball as a vehicle to inspire, connect and create opportunities for all.

As we continue to expand our community footprint, we are seeking an energetic and passionate Community Programs Manager to help lead and deliver programs that make a meaningful difference across South Australia.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief of External Relations and Community Strategy, the Community Programs Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering the Adelaide 36ers’ community programs, partnerships, events and experiences across schools and communities throughout South Australia, Northern Territory and Asia.

This is a dynamic and rewarding role that combines program delivery, stakeholder engagement, event management and partnership coordination. You will play a critical role in ensuring our community initiatives are delivered to exceptional standards while creating meaningful experiences for participants, schools, partners and community groups.

Working closely with internal departments, players, coaches, schools, government agencies and community organisations, you will help strengthen the Adelaide 36ers’ position as a leader in community engagement, education and social impact.

Key Responsibilities

Community Programs & Events

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver community programs across schools and communities.
  • Lead the planning and execution of Adelaide 36ers School Holiday Clinics.
  • Coordinate High Performance School Partnerships and associated deliverables.
  • Deliver flagship programs including Beyond the Baseline, Adelaide 36ers Math Hoops, Active Adelaide 36ers and Defence community initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of new community programs and experiences.
  • Coordinate regional school tours, community outreach activities and special events.
  • Manage staff, volunteers and stakeholders involved in program delivery.

Player & Coach Engagement

  • Coordinate player and coach appearances across schools, community groups and partner events.
  • Manage bookings, communications and event logistics.
  • Ensure all appearances are professionally planned and delivered to maximise community impact.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate the delivery of community partner benefits and contractual obligations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, government agencies, community organisations and sponsors.
  • Assist with partner reviews, reporting and evaluation activities.
  • Support community focused game day activations and themed rounds.

Events & Community Engagement

  • Deliver workshops, teacher professional development sessions, carnivals and community events.
  • Coordinate community group engagement across Indigenous, Multicultural, Defence, Pride and charity initiatives.
  • Represent the Adelaide 36ers in the community and serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders.

Administration & Operations

  • Manage program budgets, reporting and invoicing.
  • Coordinate communications, ticketing and event logistics.
  • Support marketing, media and digital content requirements in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate program data and evaluation records.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a passionate sport and community professional who thrives on creating positive experiences and building meaningful relationships.

You are highly organised, proactive and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously. You enjoy working with schools, community organisations and partners and understand the importance of delivering programs that create genuine impact.

You are equally comfortable planning behind the scenes as you are facilitating activities and engaging with participants face-to-face. You bring strong communication skills, attention to detail and a commitment to excellence in everything you do.

With experience in community programs, partnerships, events, education, sport or stakeholder engagement, you understand how to deliver high quality initiatives while building long term relationships that support growth and sustainability.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years’ experience in community engagement, partnerships, events, education or sports administration.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management capability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Working with Children Clearance and current driver's licence.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends and game days during the NBL season.
