Applications are invited for Casual Ocean Lifeguards to work across Shellharbour City Council controlled beaches for the 2026/2027 season.

The season will run from 26 September 2026 to 25 April 2027, with rosters covering a variety of shifts Monday to Sunday.  

The role:

You will provide high quality patrol services across Shellharbour City's controlled beaches throughout the 2026/2027 season. You will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

  • Supervising beach patrons and visitors 
  • Identifying and clearly marking safe swimming and surf craft areas 
  • Recognising and responding to aquatic emergencies
  • Undertake cleaning, maintenance and reporting activities to ensure beach facilities and surrounding areas are presented in a clean and tidy condition
  • Delivering beach and ocean safety awareness programs as required
  • Providing supervision, guidance and support to other Lifeguard staff

  • Casual positions offering flexible shifts across Monday to Sunday
  • Commencing rate of $38.18 per hour (including casual loading)
  • Penalty rates applicable for Saturday, Sunday and public holiday work
  • Plus 12% superannuation

Please Note: 

  • This position requires a current "Working with Children Check" clearance for those over the age of 18 years in accordance with the 'Child Protection (WWC) Act 2012 for Paid workers
  • You will need to complete a Pre-placement Medical Assessment
  • As part of the recruitment process, you will need to pass a Fitness and Skill assessment
