About the Opportunity

The St George Illawarra Dragons are calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced and aspiring coaches looking to contribute to our Pathway Programs.

We are seeking to identify and engage a high-quality coach to join our system, with an opportunity to lead our Illawarra Steelers SG Ball Cup (Under 19s) program for 2027.

This EOI process is designed to build a strong coaching network within the Dragons Pathways, aligning with the Club’s long-term vision for player development and high performance.

About the Role

Successful applicants from this EOI process may be considered for Head Coach appointments or broader roles within the Dragons Pathways coaching structure.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Leading and managing a Pathways team throughout pre-season and competition
  • Delivering structured, high-quality coaching aligned with the Dragons’ development framework
  • Supporting the identification and progression of emerging talent
  • Collaborating with Pathways staff across coaching, performance, and medical disciplines
  • Creating a positive, disciplined, and development-focused environment for young athletes
  • Contributing to the overall growth and success of the Dragons Pathway system

About You

We are looking for coaches who:

  • Have a strong passion for developing junior and emerging talent
  • Bring experience in club, representative, or high-performance environments
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Are aligned with a development-first coaching philosophy
  • Are committed to fostering a positive and professional team culture

Essential Requirements

  • NRL Coaching Accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current Working with Children Check (NSW)
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Availability across training and competition periods

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in elite junior or representative rugby league programs
  • Exposure to talent identification and development systems
  • Relevant qualifications in coaching, sport science, or a related field
