This is a genuinely unique leadership opportunity.

As CEO of Hockey ACT, you will combine commercial leadership, strategic influence, community impact and infrastructure oversight within a passionate sporting environment. You’ll also play a key role in shaping the future of hockey across Canberra and more broadly across the surrounding regional communities.

For an executive who enjoys building relationships, creating sustainable growth and leading purpose-driven organisations with real community connection, this offers both challenge and opportunity in equal measure.

You’ll lead an organisation that sits at the intersection of sport, community and commercial enterprise. Working closely with the Board, government stakeholders, sponsors, clubs, tenants and the broader hockey community, you will:

• strengthen financial sustainability
• grow partnerships and commercial revenue
• maximise the potential of Hockey ACT’s infrastructure and assets
• support participation and pathway growth
• continue building strong government and stakeholder relationships
• lead a capable and committed team through an important transition period

The position is outwardly focused and highly relationship-driven, requiring a leader who can confidently operate across government engagement, commercial partnerships, community and member relationships, infrastructure oversight and organisational leadership.

What you’ll need

You may come from sport, government, infrastructure, community enterprise, membership organisations or the commercial sector. What matters most is your ability to bring:

• strong commercial and financial acumen
• exceptional stakeholder engagement capability
• emotional intelligence and leadership maturity
• a collaborative and authentic leadership style
• the ability to build trust quickly
• confidence operating in complex and community-connected environments

You do not need to come from a hockey background, although a passion for sport, participation and community outcomes will be highly regarded. Importantly, you will inherit a highly competent and engaged team and a Board that is invested, supportive and committed to the future success of the organisation.

Hockey ACT is a dynamic organisation with a strong and growing participation base, established government partnerships, significant infrastructure assets and diversified commercial operations extending across the ACT and regional communities including Albury-Wodonga, Young and Wangaratta.

The organisation generates approximately $5.6M in annual revenue through a diverse mix of memberships, government funding, sponsorships, venue operations, hospitality and commercial tenancy arrangements. Supported by a passionate and highly engaged Board, the next CEO will have the opportunity to shape the future direction of hockey across the region while driving commercial sustainability and strategic growth.
