The Australian Sports Commission is embarking on the Green and Gold decade. An exciting time filled with international sporting competitions on home soil, including the Men’s and Women’s Rugby World Cup, and culminating in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. About the team –The NPSS branch plays a central role in connecting and strengthening performance support networks across the HP sport system. It engages and influences stakeholders to drive world-leading knowledge and practice, enhancing the contribution of performance support to athletes winning well. 

About the role – The AIS Female Performance & Health Initiative (FPHI) was established to improve female athlete-specific knowledge and systems of support. The initiative benefits Australian athletes, coaches, parents, sporting organisations and support staff in the sport sector and raises awareness and understanding of key female athlete performance and health considerations.

Within this role, you will:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of strategic relationships with key out-of-sector  stakeholders (international researchers, funding bodies, corporate partners)  
  • Act as the central coordination point for enquiries and build a connected multidisciplinary network to support female athlete performance and health.  
  • Coordinate and support the FPHI Athlete and Industry Reference Groups, ensuring effective engagement, governance and outcomes. 
  • Identify system-level needs, develop project plans,  and lead end-to-end project delivery through to completion  
  • In collaboration with the Chief Science Officer, FPHI Research Chair, and Science Consultant, evolve and drive the research strategy of the AIS FPHI  
  • Work with the relevant AIS personnel to develop and coordinate appropriate communications as needed  

About you – We are looking for highly experienced, proactive, dynamic individuals who enjoy challenge and work well both in a team and independently.

  • The successful candidate will have the following essential criteria: 
  • Post Graduate qualifications (Masters or higher) in Performance Science, Sports Science, or a closely related discipline; OR  a medical degree with current (or eligibility  for ) registration to practice in Australia 
  • Recognised expertise in female performance health, with demonstrated application in elite or high-performance sport systems  
  • Significant experience in HP sport settings supporting elite athletes and/or teams 
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including experience leading teams, managing staff and/or delivering complex multidisciplinary projects or initiatives within a sport or high-performance setting.  
  • Demonstrated evidence of successfully implementing; 
    Systemic change, through influence, Performance solutions, Interdisciplinary projects and approaches 

The following criteria are desired: 

  • Demonstrated alignment with the competencies and personal style outlined in the Performance Support Success Profiles 
  • Proven contribution to the advancement of the profession through knowledge development, research, or innovation
  • Experience working across multiple sports and within various high performance (HP) system environments 

This position is offered as an ONGOING  position.
