Handball Victoria is seeking a motivated volunteer Board Member to help grow and strengthen handball across Victoria.
Handball is a fast, exciting Olympic sport with enormous opportunity for growth in Australia, particularly as the country builds toward Brisbane 2032. Handball Victoria is working to develop stronger clubs, more regular competitions, junior and school participation, social handball opportunities and pathways for athletes, coaches, referees and volunteers.
We are looking for a Board Member who can contribute skills, energy and practical support to the next phase of development.
Board Members are expected to:
- contribute to strategic planning and decision-making
- attend Board meetings and participate in Board discussions
- support agreed projects and priorities between meetings
- act in the best interests of Handball Victoria and the sport
- contribute to practical operational activities where required, recognising that Handball Victoria is a volunteer-led organisation and Board members may assist with delivery of programs, events, competitions, communications or stakeholder engagement
- bring a constructive, collaborative and practical approach to governance
We would particularly welcome applicants with skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- sport development or club development
- marketing, communications or social media
- sponsorship, partnerships or grants
- events or competition delivery
- coaching, refereeing or athlete pathways
- governance, legal, finance, risk or policy
- schools, community sport or participation programs
Prior handball experience is welcome but not essential. More important is a willingness to contribute, learn and help build a stronger, more sustainable sport in Victoria.
- Handball Victoria is also currently recruiting for a separate volunteer Secretary position. Applicants are welcome to indicate if they would like to be considered for either role.
