Join Logan City Council’s Venues and Events Branch as an Aquatics and Recreation Contracts Officer, where you will play a key role in overseeing externally operated aquatic, sport, leisure and community facilities that support active, healthy and connected communities.
Position Responsibilities
As the Aquatics and Recreation Contracts Officer, you will support the effective management and oversight of Council’s externally operated facilities, ensuring operators meet contractual, legislative and industry obligations while maintaining safe, compliant and high-performing venues.
In this role, you will:
- Support the management and monitoring of commercial contracts and leases for aquatic, sport, leisure and community facilities
- Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits aligned to contractual, legislative and industry standards
- Monitor operator compliance with safety, health, water quality and operational requirements
- Support contract and lease meetings with operators and provide audit outcomes and performance insights
- Assist with onboarding of new operators and coordination of transition and exit processes
- Review and report on operational, compliance and performance data including attendance, utilisation and incidents
- Support effective financial oversight by reviewing operator reporting and identifying risks or variances
- Provide technical and industry advice to internal stakeholders relating to facility operations and maintenance
- Liaise with operators, contractors and Council teams to support asset management and maintenance outcomes
- Act as a point of contact for operator-related enquiries, complaints and investigations
Key indicators for success
We are looking for an Aquatics and Recreation Contracts Officer who brings:
- Demonstrated experience in managing or administering contracts and/or leases, ideally within aquatic, sport or recreation environments
- Strong knowledge of compliance, safety and regulatory requirements relevant to aquatic and community facilities
- Experience coordinating audits and monitoring operational performance
- Well-developed analytical, reporting and communication skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively across teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and compliance or monitoring systems
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with attention to detail
- Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (highly regarded)
- Pool Plant Operator Certificate (or ability to obtain)
- Current “C” Class Driver Licence
