Description

The Sport Program Coordinator role is a new role at ACTAS which will work across several key projects. The role will be responsible for coordinating ‘Our Connection to Country’, as well as supporting the sports administration for existing ACTAS business areas (Sport Programs, Performance Services, Individual Athlete Program, and Para Unit). The Our Connection to Country project is a two-year pilot program partnership with the Australian Sports Commission. The project aims to develop and accelerate the implementation of the Our Connection to Country Action Plan in the Australian high performance sport system.  The ACTAS Para Unit is a partnership with the Australian Sports Commission and Paralympics Australia. The Para Unit aims to reduce barriers, boost athlete development, and identify new talent leading into the Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games. 

As the ACTAS Sport Program Coordinator, you will:

  • Coordinate the delivery of the Our Connection to Country (OCTC) Action Plan in the ACT. Working with ACTAS Senior Management, partnered sports programs, athletes, coaches, and staff to deliver key initiatives identified in the OCTC Action Plan. Including as an active contributor on the ASC National Our Connection to Country Steering Committee, with a focus to progress the HP sport system to a culturally safe, connected, and inclusive environment. - An initial focus of the role will be to create opportunities that educate and build a commitment to better understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. - To adapt the organisations practices and protocols and people’s behaviour to ensure and embed cultural safety for all.
  • Support the ACTAS Para Unit Lead with program administration and delivery of projects during peak periods for the Para Unit.
  • Provide program and administration support for the three ACTAS Assistant-Directors (Sport Programs, Performance Services, Individual Athlete Program) during peak periods. 

Including: 

  • Support the Assistant-Director Sport Programs and Assistant-Director Performance Services with the operational delivery of Sport Program Agreements. 
  • Help with the onboarding and transitioning of athletes, including documentation preparation and communication. 
  • Administration of the Athlete Management System (AMS). 
  • Coordinate athlete, coaches, and staff records management. 
  • Coordinate sport program induction preparations. 
  • Liaison with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) for high-performance and facility bookings. 
  • Coordinate the Athlete Medical Register list; liaise with ACTAS Head of Performance Health and AIS Medicine as required. 
  • Uniform - distribution, coordination and stocktake. 
  • Other duties as directed by your Supervisor.

WHAT YOU REQUIRE -  The following capabilities form the criteria that are required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.  

Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge  

  1.  Minimum two years’ experience in administration (in the High-Performance sport sector is highly desirable), delivering programs, and implementing project plans.
  2.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including strong written communication skills with a high attention to detail.
  3. Outstanding time management and planning skills, including experience working across multiple projects simultaneously.
  4. Proven skills and experience in program coordination, working independently, as well as working in a team in a dynamic, complex delivery environment across multiple stakeholders.  
  5. Experience working with digital applications and platforms and athlete management systems.

Essential Requirements

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Current Provide/Perform CPR
  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • 2026 Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) Certificate
  • Play By The Rules - Child Safeguarding and Sport Induction e-Learning course (or an ability to obtain)

Desirable Criteria

  • Drivers Licence
  • Experience and knowledge of high-performance sport
  • Experience working with the Athlete Management System (AMS)
  • Lived experience of a disability and/or experience working directly with Para athletes, or people with a disability
  • Knowledge of Government projects and disability programs (e.g., NDIS, DSS).
