Paralympics Australia (PA) exists to lead Paralympic sport and create a more inclusive world. As the peak body for Paralympic sport in Australia, we have 24 member organisations and are responsible for selecting and managing the Australian Paralympic Teams to Summer and Winter Games and playing key roles in the Para System Uplift.

As a sector lead and supporter of the Para System Uplift, PA, in partnership with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), are seeking to engage a Project Manager for a Para Hub Games pilot. The Para Hub Games is an athlete development event pilot, featuring multi-sport competition, education and classification opportunities for emerging Para sport athletes.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager for a six month contract to lead the coordination of the planning, delivering, and evaluation of the Para Hub Games pilot.

About the Role

The Project Manager - Para Hub Games will ensure all aspects of the event move forward efficiently by coordinating the work of the Project team, facilitating collaboration among team members and effective communication with all stakeholders.

If you are a highly organised project management professional with the experience to deliver and evaluate complex initiatives and have experience in events and the Australian High-Performance System this role may be for you.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated understanding of Para sport events or with lived experience as a Para athlete or person with disability.

This role will require occasional interstate travel and weekend work and can be flexible on location.

Candidates will be expected to coordinate the delivery of the event as a whole including delivering:

  • Centrally managed Event Coordination including
  • Project, budget and resource management
  • Internal and External Project Communications
  • Promotion and Marketing Coordination
  • Registrations and Participation Oversight
  • Management of Teams, Volunteers and Officials
  • Insurance, Risk, and Health and Safety oversight for the event
  • Coordinated evaluation and feedback across all stakeholders at the completion of the event.

About You

We’re seeking someone with:

  • Strong project management experience
  • A proven ability to deliver and evaluate complex initiatives, ideally within a sporting or event-based environment.
  • Sound understanding of Para sport and the contemporary Australian high-performance sport system,
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail
  • The ability to manage required items related to risk, insurance and health and safety requirements as required for the event.
  • Experience delivering high-quality evaluations and recommendations towards successful outcomes
  • Financial and Budget management

This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across a diverse and complex stakeholder landscape. A proactive, professional and inclusive approach will be essential to achieving successful outcomes.

Candidates with lived experience with Para sport or as a person living with a disability will be highly valued.

Time Commitment

This role is a full time 6-month contract through scoping, planning, delivery and evaluation of the event.
