You will build the conditions that allow Wellbeing & Education Managers (WEMs) to do their best work, consistently, confidently and in ways that are culturally grounded and evidence informed.
As General Manager - Wellbeing (Systems & Programs), you will:
- Lead League Ahead’s Life Readiness & NRLW Specific Support pillar
- Strengthen workforce capability across the national WEM network
- Embed culturally safe and inclusive wellbeing frameworks
- Align systems, partners and programs across the rugby league ecosystem
- Drive innovation, evidence and measurable impact
Working closely with the General Manager - Mental Fitness and the Head of Careers & Education, you will ensure players experience a connected, coherent and player-centred journey at every stage of their career.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Strategic Pillar Stewardship
- Set direction, standards and priorities for Life Readiness delivery across environments - ensuring alignment with Mental Fitness and Careers to strengthen whole-of-player outcomes.
Systems & Workforce Capability
- Act as lead point of contact for NRL Wellbeing & Education Managers
- Build national capability across the WEM network
- Establish shared frameworks, tools and professional learning
- Strengthen alignment, communication and connection across clubs and partners
Cultural Safety & Inclusion
- Provide leadership in culturally informed wellbeing practice
- Oversee Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Pasifika wellbeing frameworks
- Ensure cultural authority, lived experience and player voice are embedded in design
Program Innovation & Evidence
- Lead innovation responsive to emerging player needs
- Embed evaluation, analytics and feedback loops
- Ensure insights drive decision-making and continuous improvement
Leadership & Influence
- Lead beyond formal authority
- Build trusted relationships across clubs, NRL and RLPA
- Contribute to executive leadership and organisational direction
About You
You are a senior leader who understands systems, not just programs.
You bring:
- Experience leading in wellbeing, sport or complex community systems
- A track record of building workforce capability and leading through influence
- Strong systems thinking and stakeholder leadership skills
- Experience working in culturally safe ways with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Pasifika communities
- The ability to translate strategy into practical frameworks and action
Experience in elite sport (Rugby League preferred) and evidence-informed practice is highly regarded.
Most importantly, you lead with integrity, curiosity and cultural humility.
