Description

The Australian Sports Commission is embarking on the Green and Gold decade. An exciting time filled with international sporting competitions on home soil, including the Men’s and Women’s Rugby World Cup, and culminating in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We have an ambitious new Strategic Vision and we need the best players on our team to help us deliver real results for the sporting sector and all Australians.

Are you up for the challenge?

About the team – The AIS REST Hub is a specialised team that supports Australia’s High Performance (HP) sport system through four key pillars: Recovery, Environment, Sleep, and Travel. The REST Hub drives practical, evidence-informed solutions to optimise performance and wellbeing. With a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and system-wide impact, the team works closely with the HP sport system to build capability and support the implementation of best practice strategies.

About the role – We’re seeking a proactive and skilled professional to join the AIS REST Hub in Canberra. The strategic focus of this role is the Environment pillar (heat preparation and management). Applicants must demonstrate expertise across this pillar in addition to a working knowledge across Recovery, Sleep, and Travel. The role involves leading nationally relevant projects, developing evidence-informed guidelines and resources, and supporting major event readiness. Strong communication skills, a drive for innovation, and a background in sport science or a related field are essential. If you're passionate about performance support and ready to contribute to system-wide impact, we encourage you to apply.

About you – The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in sport science, physiology, sports medicine, or a related field.
  • Expertise in the ‘Environment’ pillar of the REST Hub. Including heat preparation/ management strategies and end-to-end delivery of practical heat support.
  • Working knowledge across the REST Hub’s Recovery/Sleep/Travel pillars.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate emerging REST-related evidence and technologies into practical decision-support tools for athletes, coaches and practitioners.
  • A sound understanding of the Australian HP sport system, including its structure, stakeholders, and operational environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence others to drive strategic outcomes across organisations and locations.
  • High levels of initiative, adaptability, and self-motivation in dynamic settings.
