About Us
Basketball ACT isn’t just about hoops - it's about community, connection, and growth. Recognized by Basketball Australia and the ACT Government, we’re the driving force behind basketball in the ACT. With over 13,000 participants aged 5 to 70, 900+ teams, and hundreds of referees and officials, we’re one of the largest basketball associations in Australia.
We’re on a mission to double the basketball community by 2029, and with a 83% growth from 2022 to 2025, we’re well on our way. Our purpose is simple: build stronger, more inclusive communities while helping individuals grow through basketball.
Based at our state-of-the-art, four-court facility in Belconnen, we collaborate with schools, community clubs, and organizations to deliver top-notch competitions, programs, and opportunities.
Why We Need You
We’re inviting applications for 2 Elected Director positions to bring fresh ideas, diverse perspectives, and strategic expertise to our Board. If you’ve got a background in leadership, strategy, or business - and a love for basketball or the wider sports community, we’d love to hear from you!
What We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in individuals who can bring skills and expertise in:
- Strategic planning and growth.
- Sponsorship, business, or commercial experience.
- Media, marketing, and communications.
- Change management.

- Business savvy, strategic thinking, financial literacy, and a solid understanding of governance.
The Details
- Commitment: This is a voluntary (unpaid) position, with bi-monthly Board meetings (usually Tuesday evenings).
- Term: Directors can serve for up to two consecutive terms (a term consists of three years)
- Location: Belconnen, ACT.
