NSW Athletics operates one of Australia’s most comprehensive state-based performance and pathway systems, supporting athletes from emerging talent through to national and international representation. The NSW Athletics Centre of Excellence (COE) sits at the heart of this system, delivering evidence-informed, athlete-centred physical preparation within an integrated, multidisciplinary performance environment.
As part of continued growth across our pathway and high-performance programs, NSW Athletics is seeking to appoint two Strength & Conditioning Coaches to join the Performance & Pathways team:
- Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach
- Strength & Conditioning Coach - Development Squads
These roles offer an opportunity to work with developing and high-performance athletes in a high-quality training environment, alongside experienced coaches and performance practitioners.
About the Roles
Both positions operate within the NSW Athletics Performance & Pathways system and contribute directly to athlete development, durability, and performance progression. While closely aligned, the roles differ in scope and seniority:
Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach:
- Leads and delivers physical preparation across development, targeted, and high-performance cohorts
- Balances program leadership with high-volume hands-on delivery
- Contributes to framework development, athlete monitoring, and multidisciplinary integration
- Works across group, individual, and remote / hybrid delivery models
Strength & Conditioning Coach - Development Squads:
- Delivers group-based strength and conditioning programs for athletes aged approximately 14+
- Operates primarily within the pathway development environment
- Focuses on high-contact coaching, long-term athlete development, and safe progression
- Works closely with athletes, coaches, and parents to support pathway outcomes
Both roles are permanent part-time positions (approx. 30 hours per week) and require flexibility aligned to training schedules, squad programs, and competition periods.
About You
We are seeking motivated and capable coaches who are passionate about athlete development and committed to high coaching standards.
For the Senior role, you will bring:
- Extensive experience delivering strength and conditioning programs across pathway and high-performance athletes
- Strong understanding of long-term athlete development and performance preparation
- Experience working within multidisciplinary performance teams
- Confidence leading group sessions, individual programs, and hybrid delivery models
- ASCA Level 2 and experience with performance monitoring systems
For the Development Squads role, you will bring:
- Experience delivering group-based strength and conditioning programs for junior and developing athletes
- A strong coaching presence and preference for hands-on, squad-based delivery
- Understanding of youth development, growth and maturation, and safeguarding
- ASCA Level 1 (minimum) with a desire to progress professionally
For both roles, tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, First Aid and CPR certification, and a Working with Children Check are required.
