Description

About Us

Badminton Australia (BA) is the peak body for the sport of Badminton within Australia. Affiliated with the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Australian Olympic Committee, Commonwealth Games Australia and Paralympics Australia, we lead and develop the sport of Badminton across the country in partnership with our member State/Territory Sporting Organisations. Badminton has the unique position of being both an Olympic and Commonwealth Games sport and has over 400,000 participants and close to 16,000 members across Australia. Key functions of BA includes the operation of a High-Performance (HP) Program including performance player development and support, the management and delivery of international tournaments and national carnivals, overseeing participation initiatives and coach and technical official education as well as providing leadership, guidance and support to our states and territories. Badminton Australia has a small but perfectly formed group of staff who are predominantly based out of the Melbourne Head Office.

Overview of the Role

This role combines responsibilities for national database implementation and member services support with administrative support for High Performance (HP) programs and the Australian Ranking System. The position is critical to ensuring streamlined operations, accurate data management, and effective assistance to performance pathways including the processing of international entries into BWF tournaments, BWF number applications and BWF number transfer requests.

To further align to the Australian Sports Commission’s Play Well Strategy and future requirements for continued participation funding, BA is rolling out a national member database in 2025/2026. The Membership and Data Performance Officer will lead the implementation and management of this database and provide ongoing support to states, territories and their clubs through the onboarding process. As a key priority identified within BA’s new strategic plan, the national database will provide access to much needed member data in order to make informed decisions to grow badminton participation and engagement, as well as a better understanding of our workforce landscape (coaches, officials and other volunteers). The database is also a key requirement to provide a simpler journey to court for new participants, with up-to-date club and program data feeding through to a new BA website, making it easier to find ways to play. The Membership and Data Performance Officer will be the conduit between BA, State and Territory Organisations and Revolutionise Sport, ensuring that BA and S/T feedback is collected and communicated to Rev.
