About the Position:

Reporting to the Area Manager, the Club & Competition Coordinator plays a vital role in building capacity in clubs, leagues, competitions and communities to ensure the efficient operational delivery of Community Rugby League. A key focus of the role is the creation of an environment for players of all ages and abilities to enjoy the game that promotes growth in participation numbers.

This position will have operational responsibility within the St George District Junior Rugby League.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support, Stakeholder Management & Governance:

  • Assist in the development of club, competition and referee association plans (strategic, operational, facilities).
  • Support the smooth running of competitions, including structure, draws and game day operations.
  • Work collaboratively with leagues on development programs and coaching development programs, supporting RISE and Tackle Ready.
  • Maintain an operations manual detailing local competition rules and policies, ensuring compliance with NSWRL rules.
  • Produce an annual detailed calendar of events for local clubs and competitions reporting through area, region and state channels.
  • Actively support volunteer attraction, retention and deliver appropriate education for both club and league volunteers.
  • Liaise with the Government Relations & Infrastructure Manager to assist the clubs and leagues in identifying grant opportunities.

Club & Competition Compliance:

  • Conduct club and competition health checks and facility audits.
  • Accurately and efficiently maintain records for reporting compliance and education of coaches, sports trainers and other volunteers and ensure that clubs adhere to the NSWRL requirements relating to accreditation, registration, child protection and insurance for participants.
  • Support the operations of judiciaries and tribunals including match review, panels and hearings.
  • Assist clubs in registering participants and maintain participant databases, including transfer requests.
  • Provide ongoing advice on NSWRL and whole of game policies and advise of any key rule changes.
  • Undertake regular club and league visits to develop, foster and maintain robust and collaborative relationships with clubs, leagues, officiating associations and other relevant stakeholders.

About You:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication including skill in networking and building effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated ability to apply a firm but consistent approach and be authentic in dealings with stakeholders.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Strong computer skills specifically within the Microsoft office suite.
  • Experience in the sporting industry with a passion for and understanding of rugby league, with knowledge at club, player and/or coach level beneficial.
  • A current NSW Drivers Licence and Working with Children Check.

Consistent with the nature of the sporting industry, the successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work weekends, evenings and reasonable additional hours as is required to fulfil the requirements of this position. Remuneration is set in recognition of this requirement.
