Alongside its leadership responsibilities, the role includes a hands-on component aligned to the successful candidate’s professional background and expertise, ensuring they directly contribute to either the physiotherapy program or the strength and conditioning program.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the High Performance and Medical functions, ensuring integrated strategies that maximise player performance, development, wellbeing, and availability.
- Develop and deliver long-term performance strategies, systems, and KPIs that drive excellence across the program.
- Lead interdisciplinary planning and ensure seamless alignment between AFLW S&C, physiotherapy, sports science, nutrition, and coaching.
- Collaborate with performance support structures across the club (AFL, VFL, and Academy) to ensure consistency and alignment.
- Conduct and oversee internal and external research to inform evidence-based program improvements.
- Depending on the candidate’s professional background, play a lead role in delivering the physiotherapy program or the strength and conditioning program within the AFLW environment.
What We're Looking For
- A strong personal brand that reflects GCFC values.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Exercise Science, Sports Science, Physiotherapy, or a related field.

- Demonstrated ability to form trusted relationships with players, coaches, and key internal stakeholders.
- Experience making informed decisions around injury prevention, rehabilitation protocols, and return-to-play.
- Comprehensive understanding of sports science and rehabilitation principles.
