About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Sport and Recreation branch. As one of the fastest growing Councils in Australia, you’ll lead the Sport Operations team to drive strategic operational sport services, allocations of Council’s sports grounds and recreation facilities, implement initiatives to optimise facility utilisation, and support financial sustainability.
Reporting to the Coordinator Sport & Leisure Management, you’ll also support the contract management of Camden’s Leisure and Aquatic Facilities, including the new $67 million Oran Park Leisure Centre ensuring you play a key role in shaping how our community stays active and connected.
Your leadership will ensure exceptional service delivery aligns with Council strategic objectives, community satisfaction, and ongoing improvement.

Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Sports, Recreation or Leisure, or a related field, or relevant experience.
- Experience in managing teams that can drive change and maximise opportunities in alignment with Council’s strategic direction
- Demonstrated experience managing complex sport, recreation and/or leisure operations, allocations, and community engagement initiatives.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build, establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with key stakeholders such as sporting clubs and associations, service providers, community groups and Council staff.
- Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, strategies, and/or systems to improve sport and recreation services.
- High-level skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making to improve facility operations and service delivery.
- Ability to self-manage time, plan, and prioritise work and meet deadlines and targets in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to high-quality customer service and a sound understanding of the sport, recreation and leisure industry, including current trends and funding opportunities.
Desirable:
- Experience in managing projects or initiatives, particularly within the sports and recreation sector.
- Ability to provide expert advice on the planning and enhancement of sports clubs, facilities, and grounds.
- Experience in overseeing budgets and procurement practices.
- Experience with digital booking systems.
