About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Facilities Coordinator to join the team at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) in Redfern - a place known as the heart of community.
This job is a blend of desk-based and out on the floor, leading by example, supporting Duty Managers, and ensuring our Fitness & Aquatics Centre is safe, compliant, and welcoming for everyone who walks through our doors.
You’ll work closely with the Centre Manager, Site Facility Manager, NSWALC, and the local community to coordinate maintenance, oversee contractors, manage compliance, and uphold the operational excellence that NCIE is known for.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee daily operations, building repairs, and maintenance
- Supervise and support Duty Managers with a “lead-from-the-floor” approach
- Manage contractors and ensure WHS, building, and pool compliance
- Handle reporting and incident management in Lucidity
- Foster positive relationships with staff, members, and the broader community
- Contribute to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment for all
About You
You’re a confident, empathetic leader who thrives in dynamic environments and genuinely cares about people — staff, members, and community alike.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in facilities or operations management (fitness, aquatics, leisure, or similar)
- Strong understanding of WHS, compliance, and child safety standards
- A people-first mindset with exceptional interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Cultural awareness and the ability to engage respectfully with diverse communities
- A willingness to listen, learn, and lead with authenticity and integrity
- Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends
You’ll also hold (or be willing to obtain prior to commencement):
- Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Licence
- First Aid & CPR Certificates
- Working With Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Pool Plant Operations or Aquatic Technical Operator certification (or willingness to obtain)
