Newcastle Rugby League (NRL)
Newcastle Rugby League is seeking an adaptable, organised, and proactive to run our Football Operations to support the effective delivery of our senior competitions. This role is pivotal to ensuring smooth game-day operations, player and club compliance, and seamless coordination across the season.
As the first point of contact for participating clubs, the successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment - balancing administrative accuracy with the ability to problem-solve and adapt as priorities shift.
Key Focus Areas
- Operational Delivery: Coordinate competition logistics, compliance, and match-day processes to ensure professional standards across all senior fixtures.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong working relationships with clubs, referees, venues, sponsors, and governing bodies.
- Judiciary & Compliance: Oversee player registrations, manage judiciary processes, and maintain competition integrity.
- Event & Sponsor Support: Assist in planning and executing key league events, activations, and sponsor engagements.
- Financial & Administrative Support: Manage payments, budgets, and reporting with attention to accuracy and transparency.
Core Responsibilities
Pre-Season (October - March)
- Prepare key season documentation, player and club compliance materials, and trial match calendars.
- Maintain the Player Points Index System (PPIS) and assist clubs with player registration platforms.
- Coordinate representative apparel and liaise with suppliers.
- Update Rules & Regulations and ensure clubs are supported with compliance requirements.
In-Season (April - September)
- Oversee game-day logistics, appoint ground officials, and communicate with referees and venues.
- Manage player contracts, registration approvals, and judiciary coordination.
- Investigate potential breaches and facilitate judiciary hearings.
- Support the production of league programs and media releases.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver seamless match operations and events.
Events & Administration
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of events such as the Season Launch, Finals Series, and Presentation Day.
- Process payments for officials and support event budgeting and reconciliations.
- Assist with sponsor activation tracking and reporting.
About You
You’re a self-starter with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to adapt to changing demands throughout the season. You enjoy problem-solving and can manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Understanding of football or sports operations (rugby league experience highly regarded)
- Proven organisational and multitasking ability in a fast-moving environment
- Strong communication, rapour building and stakeholder relationship skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and sports administration platforms (e.g., MySideline, Smartabase)
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings during the season
