Description

The Aces are professional baseball team who compete domestically in Australia and overseas. The team plays from Nov to early Feb in Melbourne, with local and international pro athletes. This internship will provide you with a greater understanding of box office and game-day operations and will further develop your career in pro sport and entertainment.

Overview of the position:

The position will report to the Assistant General Manager and will work closely with all staff, most specifically within the box office.  The successful candidate will leave this real life work experience environment with the requisite skills to fully operate and manage a professional ticketing system and POS system, gaining knowledge and understanding transferable to equivalent positions throughout the sport and entertainment industry.

Internship - Professional Development:

Learning opportunities include but are not limited to, the following areas of training:

  • Ticketing software - Vivenu
  • Ticket printing and scanning
  • Point of sale and cash management 
  • General customer service 
  • Box office staff/volunteer recruitment and management
  • Corporate and VIP sales
  • Group sales and single ticket purchases
  • Membership and season ticket sales 

Eligibility

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Professional demeanour, organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team and take initiative at times
  • Extensive multi-tasking skills and experience managing deliverables with time-sensitive deadlines
  • Some previous work experience (part-time, internship or volunteer) related to the department(s) of interest is strongly preferred

This role is part of a team environment and a fully immersed position meaning that training will take place throughout live Aces game-day events at Melbourne Ballpark, located in the Melbourne suburb of Altona, Victoria, Australia. Successful applicants should be willing to work alongside professional staff as well as other interns and game day volunteers. 

Intern must provide their own transportation to Melbourne Ballpark, lunch and dinner will be provided on game days.
