We are seeking a high performing, collaborative and innovative Head of Data Infrastructure and Technology with the expertise to operate as a subject matter expert, to lead our Technology team. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Head of Data Infrastructure & Technology is trusted to deliver the key responsibilities of Project Management, Data Infrastructure Management & Architecture, IT Operations & Service Delivery, Contract Management, and Team Leadership.

ABOUT THE ROLE

IT Projects & Vendor Management

  • Lead delivery of IT projects on time, within budget, and aligned to Club strategy.
  • Manage end-to-end procurement, contract renewals, and commercial negotiations.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and SLAs to ensure value and accountability.
  • Act as escalation point for critical service issues and lead rapid resolution.
  • Drive operational improvements, cost savings, and scalability.
  • Ensure projects meet security, risk, and business continuity standards.

Data Infrastructure & Architecture

  • Build and manage a scalable cloud data warehouse (e.g. Snowflake).
  • Implement data governance for privacy, security, and compliance.
  • Design efficient data architecture and integration pipelines.
  • Support data automation and transformation for analytics and reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver actionable data insights.
  • Communicate data findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

IT Operations & Security

  • Oversee infrastructure including cloud, networks, devices, and IAM.
  • Ensure reliable, secure, and high-availability IT services across all departments.
  • Lead cybersecurity strategy (e.g. Essential Eight, NIST) and controls implementation.
  • Maintain automated processes for onboarding, updates, and endpoint management.
  • Manage IT support operations and SLA-driven ticketing workflows.
  • Monitor performance and proactively mitigate risks and downtime.
  • Stay current on AI, emerging tech, and cybersecurity developments.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing technology team.
  • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture across the Club.
  • Coach for high performance and support professional development.
  • Allocate team resources across projects, operations, and match-day support.
  • Promote cross-training and knowledge sharing to build team resilience.

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven leader of small, multi-disciplinary tech teams, comfortable balancing strategy with hands-on delivery.
  • Experienced in managing vendors, contracts, and budgets in a lean environment.
  • Organised and adaptable, able to prioritise across a wide range of competing demands.
  • Strong communicator, capable of translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Skilled at engaging stakeholders across all areas of the organisation.
  • Commercially astute, aligning tech and data initiatives with broader organisational goals.
  • Service-oriented with a focus on reliability, security, and long-term value.
  • Big-picture thinker who’s also willing to roll up their sleeves when needed.
  • Collaborative and resilient, thriving in a dynamic, cross-functional setting.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Strong experience of data architecture, analytics platforms, and governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver organisation-wide IT projects successfully.
  • Proven experience in managing enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud services (Azure cloud services preferred), and cybersecurity.
  • Led enterprise Microsoft-first environments (M365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender suite)
  • At minimum degree qualified in Data Engineering or relevant qualification.
  • Valid Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one.
