ABOUT THE ROLE
The Head Physiotherapist is responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating best practice systems of care around players to improve list availability, whilst also providing leadership to the physiotherapy team.
We are looking for an individual with a collaborative, team-first mindset and a strong personal brand that aligns with the club's values. They must be committed to driving high standards for themselves and their team.
Reporting to the Head of Performance, the Head Physiotherapist will:
- Assist with the development of procedures and policy to support club clinical governance, including assistance with the Head of Health components
- Maintain a high level of clinical documentation on Smartabase regarding player injuries and treatment
- Conduct thorough history taking, assessments and screening of AFL listed players
- Provide a comprehensive treatment to AFL listed players
- Oversee individualised injury prevention and rehabilitation programming by working closely with the high performance team
- Closely monitor all injuries and the availability of all AFL listed players
- Create and implement clear return-to-sport criteria, including the use of outcome measures
- Provide individual review/feedback to medical staff regularly, enabling positive reinforcements and/or growth areas for staff development and proactive management of staff
- Establishing a culture of clinical excellence and continuous quality improvement
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy
- Master’s qualification in Sports Physiotherapy
- A minimum of five years’ experience working in an elite sport environment
- Experience using Smartabase (preferred)
- Excellent written communication skills
- Demonstration of a highly collaborative approach when working with a multi-disciplinary team, but can confidently challenge when needed
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Strong knowledge of the implementation and ongoing development of injury prevention strategies based on data and research
- Current AHPRA registration as a Physiotherapist
