Little Athletics Queensland (LAQ) is a not-for-profit, state governing body for the sport of Little Athletics in Queensland for children aged 3 – 17 years. It is a key objective of LAQ to develop children of all abilities by promoting positive attitudes and a healthy lifestyle through family and community involvement in athletics activities.
The LAQ Board is active in implementing policy that drives the strategic direction of the Association to enhance the ability of our Centres to deliver best practice services to the athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the LAQ Board to fill a casual vacancy. This is a unique opportunity to share your ideas and experiences with a membership based State Sporting Organisation which has a direct and positive impact on local communities throughout Queensland. With oversight of 85 Centres and 17,000 athletes, you will play an important role in the success of Little Athletics in Queensland.
Prospective applicants must have a demonstratable passion for sport and a genuine understanding and respect for the opportunities that LAQ presents to the entire Queensland community. We are also seeking applicants with complementary professional skills and experience to our other Directors, including:
- Oversight and lead of good governance practices
- Change management
- Technical / IT background
LAQ also encourages regional diversity and invites applicants from outside South East Queensland to apply.
While ensuring that the main criteria for appointment to the Board are skills, expertise and experience, LAQ also aims to achieve a gender and cultural diversity wherever possible.
Length of Term
The person appointed to the casual vacancy will hold the voluntary position until June 2026. In accordance with the constitution, they are eligible to be re-elected for an additional three consecutive terms (6 years in total) at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM) should they wish to nominate.
