About the role:
The Head of Basketball is responsible for leading the strategic direction, growth, and operational delivery of all basketball programs at Bendigo Stadium Ltd. This role ensures high quality, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate experiences from grassroots to elite levels, while fostering strong stakeholder relationships, driving participation, and building a high performing team aligned with BSL’s values and community focused approach.
What you’ll be doing:
- Drive the strategic direction of basketball, aligned with organisational goals and community needs, identifying growth opportunities to enhance competitions and increase participation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including Bendigo Basketball Association (BBA), Basketball Victoria, Basketball Australia, local associations, clubs, coaches, volunteers, Bendigo Spirit and participants.
- Oversee Operations & Compliance - oversight of scheduling, registrations, game day logistics, and competition compliance, ensuring adherence to child safety and conduct standards.
- Lead, mentor and support a multidisciplinary team.
What we’re looking for:
- Formal qualifications in Sports Management or related business degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sports administration, preferably basketball.
- Ability to build rapport quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally.
- Proven ability to build, maintain, and influence partnerships with external and internal groups and organisations.
- Have vision and a strategic mind that can see the big picture and opportunities.
- Experienced in leading teams, preferably in high performance environments.
